Credits

In order to receive a diploma, Oregon high school students must pass the following classes to earn a total of 24 credits. One credit equals one full year (or two semesters) of a class:

  • 4 credits (8 semesters) of English
  • 3 credits (6 semesters) of Math, Algebra I or higher
  • 3 credits (6 semesters) of Science
  • 3 credits (6 semesters) of Social Studies
  • 1 credit (2 semesters) of PE 1 credit (2 semesters) of Health
  • 3 credits (6 semesters) of Second Language, Arts or Career-Tech education
  • 6 credits (12 semesters) of other electives

It’s important to remember that credit is not given for math classes lower than Algebra I.
